SCMS 2012 - Full Marathon
SCMS 2012 - Finally done the Full Marathon at 5 hours 40 minutes. Started the run off orchard at abt 5:15am and maneuvering off CBD towards Esplanade. My pace was set at 6:15min per km, and have maintained it till we hit Fort road, where it links up to ECP run tracks. Gosh at that point the africans are already on the opposite direction towards Marina Barrage while we still trying to figure out where is the U turn point. Well I found it eventually 40mins later..and head towards MB. @3:35mins i reach the 29km mark, where my quote "Give the runner beside u a thumbs-up!". Indeed a kudos to all runners for making that far. The remaining distance under the scotching sun is the toughest challenge. It ultimately wipe off my energy level 5km before the finish point. Embarrassing to some, I walked my way to finish line..did not meet my target time below 5 hours. Slight disappointment but nonetheless it is crossing the finish line that counts! Yes! I have done it again! - goondoos 5dec12

Vibram Five Fingers - 2nd Run
did my 2nd run tdy. clocked 8km in 56mins 26 seconds. no abrasion or blisters this round since i put on my new toe socks! but the calf pain still exists. at initial start up 300m mark, i cud feel the strain on my left lower calf. i bite on and did one round my neighbourhood which is about 3.88km. i continued for another round at avg pace of 7:15min/km. both calf muscles were pulling thereafter. guess it would be another limping day tomorrow! overall it is still a good run. will keep trying and hope to build up these calf muscles soon! - 11jun12 goondoos.

Sore Calf Muscles
Am surprised the calf pain has not recovered. still limping around as i moved around at work and at home. googled to see if there is any cure to this and spot on...using VFF (Vibram Five Fingers) on first try would brings blisters and calf strain. it is common. one have to rest well and gradually increase the mileage once recovered. talk is recovery could take a week? dun think i can wait tat long so going to put on medicated oil rub tonight. also there was an advise on using VFF, try to let the heel "kiss" the ground after planting the ball of foot. this method helps to prevent sore calves! i shall try it on my next run w VFF! - 06jun12, goondoos.

Vibram Five Fingers
tried my new pair of vibram five fingers today. started with light controlled landing on ball of the foot. managed to run in smaller steps and clock 6:15min per km pace for 2km. thereafter noted some abrasion is building up on my left front arch. it grows to a full blown blister at 3km, but i continue to ride on for another 2km and headed home. this is my first barefoot run, noted the muscle bulid up is at the lower part of my calf. it is different from the usual shoe fit run and i may now need to limp for a while...oh yes vibram five fingers works just fine for first try. will do more of it once i recover. - 01jun12 goondoo.

My Sundown 2012 Run
My Sundown Run - Started with a good pace clocking 10km from Nicoll start point to Marina Barriage within an hr. Then head towards Fort rd where 21km/42km split gets tougher. Still I hv maintained a good pace till I met Clement at abt 18km. 21km is where i have to let him go w his good pace. @23km rain and thunder starts to show no mercy to the runners. biting on our lips we pierce thru the downpour. this was tough! @27km rain subsided but the muscles refused to work further, the lap time hits over 10mins/km! and i still made it to 31km within 4hr. the remaining 10km was the toughest! pumped w bananas at 33km mark, i noticed a angmoh woman pouncing the same steps. we did 7min plus/km for 3km. at 38km i let her go cos she is too good. the last 5km seems near but it is the longest. Rain starts to pour again while the runners heading towards the indoor stadium. i did not give up in fact the cold pushed me to continue! finally reached the last 3km. i maintained below 8min pace and crossed the finish line @5hr26min! Glad i done it! 26May2012.-goondoo
